The Board of Trustees of the Stillwater Free Library will meet on Tuesday, October 14th at 7:00 pm in the library.  This meeting is open to the public and anyone interested is invited to listen in.

Informational Meeting for all Home-Schooling Parents!

The library has reserved the children’s section for homeschooling parents to meet and discuss how the Stillwater Free Library can better service your educational needs.  This is a great opportunity to meet other home-schoolers and pool your resources and knowledge! Develop a list of things the staff at the SFL can do for you, and we will have a second meeting to collaborate…

Register now to attend a free interactive workshop on Saturday, June 21^st from 9-10 am at the Stillwater Free Library, 74 South Hudson Avenue on “Leadership Training Through Teambuilding.” Learn how to identify the four stages of group development and how to recognize the pitfalls of group dynamics. Managing conflict will also be discussed. This is a high-energy, fun workshop and involves team building activities you can use with your groups to encourage common goal achievement. I bet you are wondering what is happening in our non-fiction room.  You can’t miss the mess - it’s the first room you walk into!  Well, we recently recieved a nice donation (more about that later) and we are changing around the non-fiction section to accommodate the gift, create a children’s section that has all of their books in one spot, and widen the front aisle as you come in the door.  Who likes to walk straight into a shelf?  So, keep watching, visit often, and you will see the transformation before your very eyes!  Of course, no librarian can handle a disorganized area so it will all be done by the end off the month!  I promise…

Everyone is invited to attend the Friends of the SFL meeting this month!  Our new interim treasurer, Joan Ronda.  After a brief business meeting, anyone interested in listening to committee news can stick around. 

The main issue for the meeting will be the Spring edition of CAHOTATEA, the FOSFL newsletter.  Maybe you have somethng to share?    A grandchlid’s drawing?  A favorite recipe from your aunt?  Maybe you read a great book and want to share?  All of that can be offered at this meeting. 

Don’t forget.  The annual meeting is just around the corner!  Time to elect new board members, officers, sign up for committee and decide how often you would like to offer your help.  (You can even sign up to offer a tray of brownies once a year!)  Come one, come all and show your support for “the tiny library leading the way”!

Our Friends are forever planning interesting events and meetings to help you become informed and involved. 

Over the past year you have seen them at Stillwater Family Day, Town-wide garage sale day, marching with us in the parade, and lots more.  They have held bake sales for our benefit, are currently offering delivery to shut-ins and are selling nameplates for the shelving in the library. 

Did you miss the “Bedtime Snack with Friends” or the the other informal night-time get togethers? Wouldn’t you love to show support as much as they do?!?

Join our Friends the first Wednesday of every month at 5:00 pm in the library.  These meetings are open to the public - and more than that - they want you there!
