Life of Pi by Yann Martel
Posted by Sara on April 2nd, 2008
After a harrowing shipwreck, Pi finds himself adrift in the Pacific Ocean, trapped on a 26-foot lifeboat with a wounded zebra, a spotted hyena, a seasick orangutan, and a 450-pound Bengal tiger named Richard Parker (”His head was the size and color of the lifebuoy, with teeth”).
Join us for a discussion of Life of Pi on Tuesday, April 15th @ 6:30pm.
Seriously - we’d really like to get this group a little bigger so visit the library! NO - we do not discuss these books in terms of literary merit or quality of language. We talk about what it made us think - if we liked it or not, did we believe the author???

This was the book that I really wanted everyone to read this year. It is one of my favorite stories - and I think has one of the best book covers ever. I am listening to it on CD as I drive to and from work and feel I am transported far, far away from the Northway. I hope we see new faces at the bookgroup this month as this book I truly believe is designed to connect with the individual and there is no one correct interpretation. Enjoy! 3.14

I really enjoyed reading this book. (I couldn’t wait for the posting to be placed online). It was another good read and monthly book choice.
Yann Martel brought the charector of Pi from child to adult in a recollection to a writer. Then it seemed the “Life of Pi”, took over in the sea voyage portion of the story all the way through to the ending.
Parts were funny (LOL on several occasions), parts leave you with a better understanding of man, animals and understanding ones own inner faith. Which Pi lived by several. I loved it.
