Welcome to the Stillwater Free Library!

Many Thanks to Kate Dudding for sharing her storytelling talents on Tuesday, May 6th. Who up next? Joseph Zarzynski, an underwater archeologist, will be visiting on Tuesday June 3rd at 6:30pm. Joe helped uncover the 1758 Revolutionary Period radeau, Land Tortoise on Lake George. He is joining us to share clips from the new DVD and tell us what the whole experience was like. Learn more about these ships and their purpose - call and save a seat! 664-6255.

Have you been in to see us lately? Just as you pass by the official library greeter (Town Crier created by Dick Dantz and Lou Myers) you will walk straight into our newest donation! We worked very hard over the weekend (with a little help from our Cohen friends!) to get all of the shelves rearranged so we could fit the new computers. New Computers? You’ll just have to stop by and see…

This month stop and put your name in for The World is Flat by Thomas Friedman! Congratulations to EMMELINE HANCHETT who won the appreciation raffle for April - We All Scream For Ice Cream by Bernice Chardiet along with two Certificates for Ice Cream from Stewart’s!

Take Care and we’ll see you in the library!
Sara and Michele

The site is changing lots! I like the photo widgets. Just click and you move on to the next picture. Is it by flicker?

You both are doing a GREAT JOB!

I just wanted to say that the staff of the library have done a wonderful job of bringing the library further into the 21st century. I also think that the improvements done, both physical and technical, will benefit the patrons and residents of Stillwater for years to come. Nice job folks.

What I really like about your website is the flickr.com section!!! It is so cool! It shows all of the fun things you’ve done at the library so everyone can see what’s been happening!!! And I love the instant message part of the site too! I love being able to send a quick message!!

We are also glad you’ve continued preschool storytime throughout the summer months & during school holiday periods too!! I remember in the past the storytime schedule followed the school’s calendar. This new schedule is great for the kids to keep getting together all summer long and hear great stories!!

Thanks to the ladies at Stillwater Free Library, I am truly coming of age in the twenty-first century. They taught me how to “instant message” and set up an account for me to use at home, I now have a FLICKR account so I can easily share photos with family and friends - because we all know how long and frustrating emailing them is! They got me set up on GENI.com and I am creating my family tree with photos and info and it is so much easier to navigate and organize than all the work I did for years in huge bulky notebooks. Now my family tree actually looks like a tree (including the crazy branches where cousins married - eww!) They are teaching me how to use Microsoft publisher and also how to create my own weblog!!! And we all thought that the library was just about books! Carol

  7. Michele Says:

I love how we can now get live help with the website during the library hours. Good job Sara!

  8. Carol Meeker Says:

Just to follow up with anyone reading this blog. If I had more than ten second’s worth of patience I would have had no trouble with the Flikr photos and I am already used to the account access area. I had trouble setting up an audio book account on my home computer because of the firewall protection so if this happens to anyone else, just call Sara or Michele and they can do it at the library and then it works like a charm. Just think - this winter when I have a sore throat and don’t feel like reading bedtime stories I can download one and my computer can read to the kids! Carol

See? Just by leaving your name and an email - you can post a comment about this GORGEOUS site! (See, my email doesn’t show up at all…)
